The Presence of Panic Disorder among African American Hypertensives: A Pilot Study

This pilot study examines the presence ofpanic disorder among an urban African American essential hypertensive sample enrolled at a hospital-affiliatedfamily practice center Symptomatology associated with panic disorder, including the presence of isolated sleep paralysis, is also explored. Panic disorder was more likely to be presentforhypertensives thanfornormotensives. Seven of thepatients with panic disorder and hypertension experienced isolated sleep paralysis.
